Framework agreement on Sava River traffic signed
LJUBLJANA - Yugoslav Foreign Minister Goran Svilanovic, his Croatian counterpart Tonino Picula and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Minister for Civil Affairs Svetozar Mihajlovic met today in Kranjska Gora with Slovenian Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel to sign a Framework agreement on the Sava River and a protocol regulating traffic on this river, reports B92 correspondent.
This is the first multilateral agreement signed between former Yugoslav states that does not concern problems from the past but defines these countries’ common interests, which makes it especially important.
The agreement regulates the traffic on the river and its tributaries, the economic development and the environment protection of Sava and the territories along the river and its tributaries. It will pave the way for closer cooperation and attract foreign investments.
The negotiations on the framework agreement for the traffic on the Sava River were held under the patronage of the European Union's Stability Pact for southeastern Europe.
Erhard Busek, Special Coordinator of the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe also attended the meeting.
