Amendment On Conditions For Trade Between USA And FRY Withdrawn
Warsaw - Legislative bodies of USA announced the unexpected turn of events, that will bring a normalization of trade relations between that country and FR Yugoslavia, without conditions previously set.
Stephanie Lester from the Trade Committee informed Tanjug that congressman Benjamin Cardin withdrew his amendment from the proposal of law that primarily conditioned the normalization of relations. The House of Representatives will vote next Tuesday about normalization of relations of the two countries. The Senate will vote soon after that.
As we learned earlier, State Department and some prominent senators were against any conditions for the normal status of trade relations with Yugoslavia. The most significant conditions were consistent cooperation with Hague International Tribunal and consistent implementation of Dayton peace agreement.
