Agreement with United States on write off of Paris Club debt
BELGRADE - Yugoslav Foreign Minister and US Ambassador to Yugoslavia William Montgomery will sign in Belgrade on Thursday an agreement on the write off of a part of the Yugoslav debt to the United States, within the Paris Club, the Yugoslav Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday.
The Paris agreement on the write off of 66 pct of the Yugoslav debt towards the Paris Club was achieved in November last year, which was followed by the signing of bilateral agreements with creditor states. Of the total of 18 creditor states from the Paris Club, Yugoslavia has signed bilateral agreements so far with 15 of them. Following the write off of two thirds of the debt of the total of approx. 4.6 billion dollars, of the outstanding accumulated at the time of the SFRY - the Yugoslav debt to the Paris Club has been reduced by three billion dollars.
