Micunovic refuses presidential nomination
BELGRADE - Democratic Centre leader Dragoljub Micunovic announced today he would not run for Serbian president, for fear of “dispersing the democratic bloc.”
Micunovic, a senior member of Serbia’s governing coalition, had been nominated as the candidate of DAN, a three-member bloc within DOS.
He declined to say whom DAN would back instead, Yugoslav President Vojislav Kostunica, or the preferred candidate of DOS, Yugoslav deputy Prime Minister Miroljub Labus.
“We have two democratic candidates…we’ll decide according to the programs,” Micunovic told a press conference.
