Privatization slow to start with, Labus
VALJEVO - Yugoslav Deputy Premier Miroljub Labus assessed in
Valjevo that privatization was slow and sloppy to start with
and that the restructuring of the economy was conducted
differently from place to place in Serbia. Labus told Tanjug
Sunday evening that the privatization and restructuring of
the economy in Valjevo was conducted more slowly that in
other towns. "We have to see why that is so," he said.
When asked whether the decentralization of Serbia can be
expected, Labus said that it was a necessity. He specified
that it was not about splitting up the state, but about
greater competencies and greater resources for local bodies,
adding that there is no reason for decisions to be made only
in Belgrade.
