Kostunica: I’ll run!
BELGRADE – Vojislav Kostunica today ended months of speculation when he told journalists that he would propose that his Democratic Party of Serbia nominate him as Serbian president.
The federal president said that he had made the decision only after long reflection.
Should he win, said Kostunica, his first move would be to amend the Serbian Constitution and call early parliamentary elections.
His victory would be the beginning of a battle for the rule of law, the
democratization of Serbia, the struggle against corruption, a decent life and the preservation of the joint state of Serbia and Montenegro.
He accused the remainder of the DOS coalition of weakening the Serbian Parliament in their quest for absolute power, noting, however that there were “honourable exceptions”
