DIV prepares for privatization
VRANJE - The tobacco industry - Vranje (DIV) is preparing for privatization which, in keeping with a Serbian government decision, should be completed by the end of the first quarter next year.
The tender for the privatizaiton of DIV will be called by the end of the year, so that the buyer can be chosen in early 2003. DIV director general Mile Stevanovic said Wednesday that interest in the deal, through the Serbian privization agency, has been shown by British American Tobacco, Gallaher and Imperial from England, the the Japanese tobacco monopoly and a Hungarian firm. Underway are preparations of the tender documentation entrusted to a major world investment bank from England.
