Customs rates will drop once Zastava's consolidation is completed
BELGRADE - Customs rates on the export of passenger vehicles will start to drop from 30 percent once the consolidation of the Zastava car factory is completed, because the success of reforms depends on how much we will be able to protect our market for our strategic partner, Serbian Minister of Economy and
Privatization Aleksandar Vlahovic said on Tuesday.
Vlahovic said that one should bear in mind that "we sell capital and market alike and in the initial period, this market must be protected," and added he believed that Zastava was presently too protected by customs rates.
