Two different stories about 'Zastava'
Ministers Vlahovic and Djelic announce increase of production, pessimists in Kragujevac
Belgrade - Serbian Minister for privatization Aleksandar Vlahovic said yesterday that he expected the documentation for public tender for privatization of 'Zastava-Vehicles' to be ready until the end of the year. At press conference in Serbian Government he expressed satisfaction at the realization of agreement about reorganization of 'Zastava' Group. He pointed out increased interest in strategic partners. He, however, did not want to mention the names of interested investors.
He also pointed out permanent increase of production and sale of vehicles and that this year plan about 18000 cars would be realized in this year. Serbian Finance Minister Bozidar Djelic said that Serbian Government would financially support all programs concluded with 'Zastava'.
People in Kragujevac do not share the optimism of ministers Vlahovic and Djelic. Completely opposite, they are completely pessimistic about the outcome. They refer to just one detail. In 1989 the number of produced cars was 213862. Last year production was 7113 cars what is for 97 percents less.
