Ammonia spill in central Belgrade
BELGRADE The inner Belgrade residential area of Dorcol was threatened with an ammonia cloud last night, the Environmental Protection Ministry reports.
Environment Minister Andjelka Mihajlov played down the threat to residents, saying that the spill, believed to have come from a railway tanker, was only a minor chemical hazard.
It was probably carelessness in leaving a tanker of ammonia there, she said, adding that the chemical had probably evaporated because of the hot weather.
