Parliament debates amendments to Broadcast Bill
BELGRADE – Serbian parliament has resumed debate on the government’s much-delayed Broadcast Bill.
Some 150 amendments have been tabled.
A proposal aimed at limiting the influence of the state over the new Broadcast Agency was rejected at a preliminary discussion in the parliament’s Culture and Information Committee.
The Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) had objected to a provision in the Bill under which state bodies would nominate four of the nine members of the Agency, and vote to endorse the other five.
The much-delayed and altered Bill finally reached parliament yesterday morning. (B92)
