Document on economic cooperation of Albania and Kosovo annulled
UNMIK chief Michael Steiner has annulled a document on economic cooperation of Albania and Kosovo, signed on May 30th this year, Radio 21 reported on Monday. Steiner believes Kosovo’s institutions do not have the authority to sign such contracts, and that there was no cooperation with international representatives on this issue.
The information that the agreement was annulled was published by Kosovo’s daily press, stating that Steiner notified the Prime Minister of Kosovo Bajram Rexhepi, Albanian Foreign Minister Arta Dade and Yugoslav Foreign Minister Goran Svilanovic of his actions. The document was signed by the Kosovo Minister for Trade and Industry Ali Jakupi and Albanian Minister of Economy Ermelinda Meksi. Albanian Foreign Minister Arta Dade expressed support for Steiner’s decision. She believes Steiner “did the right thing” and that certain procedures must be followed.
