Djindjic: World Bank will credit reconstruction of power plants
RUDNIK - Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic said on Monday that an ambitious project on the overhaul and reconstruction the republican electric power system has been envisaged for the next 10 years, which will be backed by a credit from the World Bank, provided electricity prices in Serbia are economic.
This was Djindjic's explanation for the 50 percent increase in electricity prices that took effect in Serbia today. He said that failure to raise these prices would have resulted in possible power cuts, since no foreign donations have been provided for importing electricity.
