Interests have to fall down
Belgrade - 'I am surprised at bank active interest rates. I have to ask myself whether we have a bank cartel in Serbia', Serbian Finance Minister Bozidar Djelic said at the meeting with bank directors.
'Bank system has not paid appropriate attention to microeconomics changes in the country. In 2001 the monthly average inflation was 3.15 percents while the average of interest rates was 2.9. In May 2002 the inflation was 0.4 and the average interest rate 1.8', Djelic said.
He and Governor of the National Bank of Yugoslavia Mladjan Dinkic agreed that interest rates had to go down.
