Inflation in Serbia lowest since 1990
BELGRADE – Inflation in Serbia fell to an estimated 8.6 percent year-on-year in June, the lowest level since 1990, the Yugoslav National Bank announced today.
"According to our research department figures, inflation in June will be 0.5 percent," bank governor Mladjan Dinkic told a bankers' meeting.
"This gives a cumulative of 4.2 percent for January-June or 8.6 percent year-on-year. This is the lowest level in the past 12 years," he said.
The inflation rate during the last two months was well below the 20 percent target for 2002 agreed with the International Monetary Fund. (Reuters)
