New Serbian energy minister proposes electricity price growth
BELGRADE , June 19 - New Serbian Minister of Energy and Mining Kori Udovicki said on Wednesday she would propose a 50-percent electricity price growth as of July 1. Speaking with a Tanjug reporter after her first meeting with the media, Udovicki said this meant that if the government accepted her proposal the "average annual price of electricity should be about three cents." Responding to Tanjug's remark that the average annual price of one kWh was now 2.1 cents and that a 50-percent increase would mean that the price would exceed three cents, Udovicki said that the price increase would be accompanied by a new tariff system, under which the average price of one kWh would not exceed three cents.
Before this, addressing the news conference, Udovicki thanked former minister Goran Novakovic for everything he had achieved in 1.5 years he had held the office of the Serbian energy minister.
