As of 1999 about 50 illegal cigarette factories are working in Kosovo
Kosovska Mitrovica - Recently appointed Finance Minister in Kosovo Government Ali Sadriu confirmed to Kosovo Television that in Kosovo there were about fifty illegal cigarette factories constructed and put in operation in the last three years. Official data show that each month 300 tons of cigarettes are being smuggled from Kosovo. UNMIK's Chief Michael Steiner said that the annual loss was 30 millions of Euros because of illegal sale of cigarettes.
