JAT pilots call off strike
BELGRADE, Thursday – Pilots at Yugoslav Airlines have called off a threatened strike after reaching a salary agreement with management, the spokesman of the strike committee said today.
Miroljub Rakocevic said that the pilots had agreed to a compromise.
“Under the agreement we get twenty per cent less than we’d asked for, but we do get life insurance,” said the spokesman.
He denied that the pilots had asked for a base salary of 2,500 Euros per month and 3,000 Euros for DC10 captains.
“That is absolutely untrue. We got far less,” said Rakocevic, adding that the salary figure was “a business secret”.
