Labus opens meeting of the work group for FRY association with the EU
Federal deputy Prime Minister and Federal Minister for International
Economic Relations, Miroljub Labus, today opened a meeting of
the Consultative work group for Yugoslavia’s association with
the European Union, RTS reports. The functioning of the internal
market, or the free flow of goods, services, capital and people,
will be discussed at the meeting.
Speaking on the process of stabilization and association, Labus
emphasized that the signing of the Proceeding points for restructuring
relations of Serbia and Montenegro, as a foundation of the new
union, was a result of a positive idea on stopping the disintegration
process in the country, with respect to political and economic
reality.
Speaking on behalf of the EU, Ambassador Pablo Benavides Orgas
said the Yugoslavia has made significant progress in the reform
process, especially in the economic sector, although legal and
institutional transformation still remains to be achieved. Orgas
also emphasized the firm commitment of the EU in supporting
the reforms, leading Yugoslavia into the European Union.
