Market disunity damaging Yugoslav export potential
BELGRADE, Wednesday – Miroljub Labus, a deputy prime minister
in the Yugoslav government, has warned that the lack of a united
federal market is damaging Yugoslavia’s ability to export.
Labus, speaking at a working group on Yugoslavia’s EU membership
bid, revealed that the EU had refused to negotiate with Belgrade
on an agreement for the export of domestic textiles since the
country lacked a united federal market.
The main differences between the Serbian and Montenegrin markets,
he said, are the customs administrations, business practices,
foreign trade exchange regimes and customs protections.
The fourth meeting of the Yugoslav working group should establish
just exactly how far apart the two markets are. (Beta)
