Montenegrin Bank governor: Decision to change dinars left to commercial banks
Podgorica, 17 May: Montenegrin Central Bank Board President
Ljubisa Krgovic said on Friday [17 May] it was a great step
forward for Serbia's economy that the dinar has become convertible,
but said this would not essentially affect the Montenegrin monetary
system.
Krgovic told a press conference the euro would continue to be
the only legal means of payment in Montenegro "and the conversion
of the dinar will be a matter of Montenegrin commercial banks
linking with banks in Serbia".
"Commercial banks which want to carry out the conversion of
the dinar will have the guarantees of the International Monetary
Fund and the Montenegrin central bank will not prevent anyone
in this," Krgovic said.
