Yugoslav airline to resume flights to Pristina
BELGRADE, Saturday – Yugoslavia’s national airline announced yesterday it is resume flights between Belgrade and the Kosovo capital Pristina.
JAT director Predrag Vujovic said the resumption had been agreed during talks between Serbian officials and the UN’s Kosovo governor Michael Steiner on the sidelines of a cigarette smuggling conference in Pristina.
"Officials from the international organisations have...assessed that the renewal of traffic would be of great importance for the entire region," he said in a statement.
JAT last flew to Pristina on March 21, 1999, three days before NATO unleashed an 11-week bombing campaign on Yugoslavia.
The airline will fly three times a week between Belgrade and Pristina from June 1, a JAT official told Reuters. It will also operate flights between Pristina and the Montenegrin coastal resort of Tivat. (Reuters)
