Yugoslav foreign minister Svilanovic on an official visit to Canada
Yugoslav Minister of Foreign Affairs will meet with his Canadian counterpart Bill Graham, in Ottawa today, at the beginning of his two-day official visit to Canada. The emphasis of the talks of the two Ministers will be on political and economic reforms in Yugoslavia, the situation in southeastern Europe and on bilateral relations, says a statement of the Canadian Foreign Ministry, issued prior to Svilanovic’s visit.
Svilanovic’s visit is a “chance to examine the situation in the Balkans as part of the preparations for a summit of Ministers from G8 member countries, which will be held on June 12th and 13th, in Whistler, British Columbia”, Graham said.
Svilanovic will also meet with the Canadian Prime Minister, Jean Chretien, Speaker of the Canadian Parliament, Peter Milliken, Minister for International Cooperation, Susan Whelan, State Secretary for Central and Eastern Europe and Middle East, Gar Knudson, and Minister for Intergovernmental Affairs, Stephane Dion.
