Powell urges full implementation of Belgrade Accord
WASHINGTON, Monday – Washington today called for the full implementation of an agreement binding Serbia and Montenegro to a joint state, during talks between US Secretary of State Colin Powell and Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic.
Powell "expressed our belief that the agreement will help Montenegro and Serbia best to achieve the aspirations to fully integrate with Europe and will promote stability in the region," State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said.
"The secretary urged its rapid implementation by all parties," he said, adding that Powell had commended Djukanovic for taking such a “difficult political step.” (AFP)
