Government opens up new job opportunities for junior professionals
Belgrade, April 25, 2002 - Through a unique programme designed by the Republic Bureau for the
Labor Market, one-third of Serbia's 24,000 unemployed people with two-year college professional qualifications will be offered jobs and career development training.
Some 238 companies are prepared to participate in the initiative to hire 8,000 new professionals, a majority of whom will be starting their first job, said Director of the Belgrade office of the
Labor Market Bureau Zorica Alavantic, reported by the Belgrade daily Blic. New employees will work in the form of part-time internships with training in English and IT skills.
Most in demand by Belgrade firms are candidates with degrees in economics, as well as construction, metallurgical and electrical engineering. The Bureau plans to begin the programme as soon as precise data on supply and demand of human resources has been established and funding is secured for its implementation.
