Procedure for Yugoslavia to join the Partnership for Peace begins
The Federal government has, at today’s session in Belgrade, presided by Prime Minister Dragisa Pesic, decided to begin the procedure for Yugoslavia to join the Partnership for Peace program. The Federal Information Secretariat says that Yugoslav membership in the Partnership for Peace is in full accordance with the country’s priorities in Foreign Policy, and should help Yugoslavia join the current process of European integration.
The Federal government authorized Foreign Minister Goran Svilanovic to inform the appropriate committees of the Federal Parliament of this decision and send a letter of Yugoslavia’s intent to join the Partnership for Peace program to NATO Secretary General, George Roberson.
